Louis Laurain (1984) is a trumpet player, living in South of France. His work lies at the borders of experimental music, electro-acoustics, Jazz, traditional music, visual and performative arts. While developing an original language on his instrument, he seeks, threw solo or collaborative projects, an innovative and personal way of playing and thinking about music. In the past years he collaborated with Eliane Radigue, Pierre Bastien, Stephen O’Malley, Umlaut Big band, Olga Koziel, Axel Dorner, Guy One, Perrine Bourel, Xavier Charles, Yves-Noel Génot, John Tilbury, Nicolas Collins, Zombie-Zombie, Pierce Warnecke ...

He performs regularly as a solo. He is also a member of the Berlin band DIE HOCHSTAPLER, the French-Polish group LUMPEKS, the duo TDTNDG and The Duo C.N.T With Pierre Bastien. He has toured in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America and Russia.

Pierre Borel is a saxophonist and composer, working in the field of improvised and experimental music. Since 2006 he is residing in Berlin taking part of the high flow of ongoing creativity that is centered there. He has performed in most European countries, Japan, Russia and USA and is a regular playmate of Joel Grip, Hannes Lingens, Derek Shirley, Christian Lillinger, Axel D?rner, Tobias Delius to name a few.

He obtained a master degree at the Jazz Institute in Berlin in 2008, and continues questioning sound and composition through his studies in electro-acoustic music.

Together with Florian Bergmann and Hannes Lingens, he was running the Umlaut Berlin collective that in recent years released a great number of records and organized four festivals of improvised music.

Antonio Borghini is a double bass player and composer.

Born in Milan in 1977, he grows up in Rome where, at the age of ten, begins his musical studies privately and later on at “G.B. Martini” conservatory in Bologna. Based there, he joins in the late 90’s the musicians collective “Bassesfere”, and starts collaborating with many bands (Cristina Zavalloni “Open quartet”, “Orange room”, “Headless cat”, “Mrafi”, “Chant trio” a.o.)

In 2003 begins his long term collaboration with cellist Tristan Honsinger playing in the group “Small Talk”. In the years 2004-2006 he plays concerts around Europe with many projects such as “Domino quartet” with Sean Bergin, Gianluca Petrella and Hamid Drake; David Murray trio and quartet; the “Anthony Braxton quartet” and the Butch Morris Orchestra. His sextet “Memorial Barbecue” is invited to the international jazz festival in S.Anna Arresi. From 2007 till 2010 he’s the bass player in Mike Patton’s project “Mondo Cane”. In 2008 he publishes the first record of his music with the group “Malebranche” . The quartet “Eco d’alberi” is the first italian ensemble playing at the Vision festival in New York.

Through these years he played, toured and recorded with many other musicians such asHan Bennink, Taylor Ho Bynum, Mary Halvorson, John Tchicai, Leo  Smith,  Cristiano  Calcagnile,  Edoardo Marraffa, Pasquale Mirra, Vincenzo Vasi, Mirko  Sabatini,  Fabrizio Puglisi, Francesco Bigoni, Stefano Bollani, Aldo Romano.

In 2009 he moves to Berlin and quickly becomes part of the so-called “echtzeitmusik” scene. Out of countless musical meetings he co-founded “Hook, Line and Sinker”, a music theater ensemble with Tristan Honsinger, Axel D?rner and Tobias Delius; “Der Lange Schatten” with Michael Thieke and H?vard Wiik; “Die Hochstapler”, with Pierre Borel, Louis Laurain and Hannes Lingens; “Schnell”, a bebop-trance trio with Christian Lillinger and Pierre Borel.

He  is  also regularly playing in Tristan Honsinger’s company “Hopscotch”;  Alexander Von Schlippenbach quartet; “Quartetto trionfale” with Günter Sommer, Manfred Schoof and Gianluigi

Trovesi; the double bass quartet “Sequoia” featuring Klaus Kürvers, Meinrad Kneer and Miles Perkin; “Umfundisi”, quartet dedicated to  Sean Bergin’s music with Matthias  Schubert,Tobias Delius and Christian Lillinger.

Furthermore he plays in various combinations with many others such as Achim Kaufmann, Olaf Rupp, Henrik Walsdorff, Hilary Jeffery, Tony Buck, Rudi Mahall, Almut Kühne, Aki Takase, Sven- ?ke Johanson and Chino Suichi.

Hannes Lingens is a musician and composer based in Halle (Germany) who focusses mainly on the intersection of improvised and composed forms of Experimental Music.

He is a member of the ensembles Modèle Réduit and Die Hochstapler and has worked with artists like Peter Ablinger, Félicie Bazelaire, Johnny Chang, Sven-?ke Johansson, Phill Niblock, Takako Suzuki and John Tilbury.

His work has been presented at festivals such as Moers Festival, Jazzfest Berlin and Donaueschinger Musiktage and is documented on a variety of releases on  labels like Umlaut, Another Timbre, Edition Wandelweiser and Hitorri.
