Conducted by YU Lu and featuring pianist YUAN Jie as soloist, tonight's performance brings together two of Ludwig van Beethoven's most towering masterpieces, both forged in the triumphant key of E-flat Major. The Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major “Emperor”, stands as the supreme culmination of the Classical concerto tradition—celebrated for its majestic architectural breadth, radiant sonority, and the seamless organic integration of soloist and orchestra. Paired alongside it, the Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major “Eroica”, fundamentally redefined the symphonic archetype. Through its unprecedented scale, profound humanistic philosophy, and unrelenting dramatic momentum, the Eroica heralded a transformative epoch in Western orchestral music. Moving from the concerto's heroic dialogue to the symphony's epic trajectory, these sibling works illuminate the full scope of Beethoven's visionary imagination, showcasing the enduring grandeur and revolutionary ethos of his musical legacy.
